This specially designed program (1985) at American Karate Studios for this age group is a natural program for parents to enroll their children in.  Not only do the children learn valuable skills which include how to pay attention better in the classroom and at home, but they develop their motor skills as well...while having fun learning the moves of the masters.

All students improve their balance, power, speed, coordination, reactions, agility, and flexibility, as well as their concentration, memory and control. The uniqueness of the Dyna-Tot^TM program lies in its design to improve these qualities in the younger child in a fun, controlled, and educational manner. No student is over-exerted or under-challenged. 

Our students come out of their shell as they interact with other children in their class. They begin to participate and contribute to the group and make friends easier. Their attention span increases.  Motor skills improve. Children become better equipped and more willing to start and complete tasks, both in the classroom and at home.

Judy Anderson Clapp, the creator and founder of the Dyna-Tot program in 1985, designed the program after many parents had requested whether AKS taught children under the age of 6.  With a Master's Degree in Physical Education / Biomechanics from the University of Delaware (1977), Judy designed the Dyna-Tot program and the rest is martial arts history.  She is recognized as a pioneer and innovator; and, one of the leading women in martial arts in this country.

Judy is a much sought after consultant for tot programs all over the world.  She has been a lecturer and teacher at various international martial arts conventions held around the country.  Many martial arts school owners and teachers  have visited American Karate Studios to witness first hand the success with teaching and developing children of this age group.  American Karate Studios is a leader in the martial arts industry internationally.

And our program is structured to allow for progress from belt to belt, so the children have a visual representation of their accomplishments, while we strive to develop their internal qualities. The children are expected to master a variety of movements at each level, while simultaneously learning a "Word of the Belt," all designed to aid them in developing their sense of self-control, concentration and respect. All we ask is that you consistently bring your child to the 30 minute classes two times each week.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAM
Ages 6-12

American Karate Studios is the one of the leaders in the United States when it comes to programs for children in the martial arts.

Children in our classes report better grades; improved energy and athletic ability; increased self-discipline and other assets that help your child over the rough spots of growing up.
