TIPS OF THE MONTH For Kenpo Kids: (Teens and Adults too) I can't emphasize enough the importance of keeping a positive attitude about attending classes, doing well in school, and excelling in anything else you do (music, sports, hobbies, etc)...It helps to shape your attitude for life! Begin by using the "I Can" attitude instead of the "I Can't" attitude. Set goals. Remember "Goals we set are goals we get". Stick to it. Follow thru until you complete what you started. Then if you can have someone review your efforts, do it. A parent, teacher or friends advice may help you acknowledge your achievements and help you correct anything that can make it better. Remember, if you put out your best effort in how you are and what you do each day, you become and do your best in your life!!! Having a birthday? Why not check into our "Karate Birthday Parties" at our school. Mr. Jason throws one heck of a party! All the kids love them; and, so do the parents. See the pictures of the happy faces on the Birthday Party Bulletin Board at the school...then schedule yours. Click here for more "Birthday Parties" information. For Teens and Adults: See above if you haven't read it already. It works for teens and adult students as well. But generally the "Birthday Parties" are for the kids... Remember Kaizen. Basically it means "Constant and Never-ending Improvement (C.A.N.I.). It's good to work on applying it to all aspects of your life: martial arts training, work, school, sports, hobbies, community, social, and relationships. You will never have regrets. If you practice it each day, your days will turn into weeks then months then years of being and doing your best. What more could you ask for? Stay on Purpose. Stay on schedule. And while you have the above tips (under Kenpo Kids in mind) Read books on martial arts. We have a good selection in our pro shop. If we don't have it in stock, we can order it from one of our catalogues. Just ask. Joe Hyams "Zen in the Martial Arts" is highly recommended...And George Leonard's "Mastery" is a great book to understand where you are in learning and training at our school. Grandmaster Ed Parker's Books #1 thru #5 are excellent for avid readers and want to know much more about our art of Kenpo. George Dillman's, Wally Jay's and Remy Presas' will advance your knowledge and martial arts. Also, a good book to read to help you break bad habits and establish good ones is "The Four Agreements" by don Miguel Ruiz. It is one of the best books you can read and then put into practice to help your life. |
